How do I back up my family trees?
In the gear menu at the top left, choose “iCloud backup”. It saves all your
trees at once to your own iCloud account, and once you have used the backup
it also does so by itself once a day. The same screen brings a saved state
back. If it says “iCloud is not available”, no Apple Account is signed in on
the device, or iCloud Drive is switched off.
My family trees are missing after switching devices.
Stamm Creator keeps everything on the device. Make a backup before the
switch and restore it on the new device from the same screen. Restoring
merges: anything that exists only on the new device is left untouched.
Can I print my family tree?
Yes. In the gear menu, choose “Share as PDF”. The PDF is true vector
artwork — you can scale it up to poster size without the lines going soft.
The ornamental border and the heading are set under “Type and colours”.
Two PDFs are included in the price; more are available in the app. Only
changed content counts: sharing the same state again in another design or
format costs nothing.
How do I move a single branch?
There is a small dot on every connecting line. Drag it and that person
moves, together with everyone below them. While you drag, it snaps into
line with the other people so nothing sits crooked. A long press on the dot
puts the branch back where the app had placed it.
How do I move the whole tree?
The topmost dot looks different from the others: a larger, open ring with a
cross of four arrows. Drag it to move the whole tree against the motif in
the background.
Why does someone show as “stepmother” instead of “mother”?
The app derives the kinship terms from the connections you have entered. If
a person is entered as the partner of a parent but not as a parent of the
child, that makes her a stepmother. Enter her as a parent as well and it
will read “mother”.

Stamm Creator keeps your data on your device and, if you switch it on, in your own iCloud account. There is no LUMA MEDIA server that data is sent to. At no point do we have access to your family trees.
If you record details about living people in Stamm Creator — names, dates of birth, family relationships — you are the controller for that data under the GDPR. The app is the technical tool, much like a drawing program on your device.
The app requests no access to contacts, calendars, photos, camera or location. It has no user account and no sign-in.
There is no disclosure to third parties. No analytics, tracking, crash reporting or advertising services are built in. The app requests no data from any outside server of its own accord and embeds no outside content. In-app purchases go through Apple’s App Store; Apple’s privacy policy applies to them.
Data stays stored until you delete it yourself or remove the app. If you delete the app, the family trees stored locally go with it. Backups in iCloud remain, and you can delete them in the Files app in the “Stamm Creator” folder. The PDF counter remains in iCloud and the keychain even after you delete the app, so purchased PDFs are not lost.
Because all data lives on your device and in your own iCloud account, you can view, change and delete it at any time directly in the app. Beyond that, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. Stamm Creator is a one-time purchase of € 24.99. All features are included, plus two PDF exports. Additional PDFs are available as in-app purchases: 1 PDF for € 2.99 or 5 PDFs for € 9.99. A PDF is counted only when the content of the family tree has changed and sharing is completed. There are no subscriptions and no recurring costs. All purchases are handled entirely by Apple; we receive no payment details, and refunds are handled by Apple alone.
Stamm Creator helps you draw and print family trees and derives kinship terms from the connections you enter. Those derivations are a calculation aid, not genealogical or legal advice. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter — and for recording and passing on details about living people only where you are entitled to do so.
The data lives on your device. Make backups regularly — if the device is lost or fails, we cannot recover any data.
